This is an original satire written by me and my friend which discusses racial stereotyping and discrimination. Please be informed that while it is not our wish to insult or offend anyone in any way, if you are hurt or discomfited by some of the racial representation and/or stereotypes we used in our story please do yourself a favour (I mean this sincerely in case the tone doesn't come across well through text) click off immediately. This satire is intended to spark thought and reflection rather than war between races, so please conduct discussions (if any) in a civil manner; if it gets out of hand, I will shut down the comments section.

We chose the issue of racial stereotyping and discrimination to write a fable cum short story about a cat who visits 4 animals in the Singapore Zoo one by one during the day of preparation for the 50th anniversary party held later at night. This cat gossips with the animals about other animals, causing them to slowly look down on and fight each other at the party. Here, the zoo represents Singapore, the animals the races, the cat social prejudice, the fight a racial riot and finally the party as the SG50 celebration. We chose this form of literature as it allows us to easily include allusions, making the satire less dry for youths and lightheartedly highlight our issue as we do not wish to severely condemn, but to chide and warn others of implications and how to remedy the situation.
