ARBE Chapter 37

Chapter 37

With the main storyline wrapped up, now it’s time for the author’s wild imagination to run free!

When Ding Sheng woke up, he found himself lying in his own bed, his computer still on at the desk with an unfinished game of Minesweeper on the screen.

For a moment, he couldn't tell what was a dream and what was reality.
Ding Sheng jumped out of bed, and the first thing he did was close Minesweeper. Then, he opened the browser and navigated to the webpage of "Other World Royal Odyssey".

The author was still on hiatus, but they had updated the announcement. A new line had been added:
"My lover read my book yesterday, and he’s taken a liking to Kris, the ice mage princess. So, I’ve decided to promote the little princess to the first and only female lead."

What the hell?

Ding Sheng complained as usual.

But honestly, "Other World Royal Odyssey" had flopped ages ago, and it went on hiatus, it had no readers left. So naturally, this new random announcement didn’t even cause a ripple.

He moved the mouse to the search bar and with almost trembling hands, typed in the words "Dishang Huai".

He had no idea why, but the first person that popped into his head was him. He couldn’t treat Dishang as just another clichéd protagonist from a flopped novel. He couldn’t brush off everything that had happened as a dream.

To his surprise, such an odd and unique name actually returned relevant results.
It was a fanfic. A fanfic of "Other World Royal Odyssey". Even a flopped, clichéd novel like that had people writing fanfic for it?

The fanfic writer must've really loved the original author.

The fanfic was titled "The Princess Absolutely Refuses To Break Off His Engagement", and the main character... had the same name as him.
A cold shiver ran down Ding Sheng’s spine as he read on, feeling more and more unsettled.

This… This was the world he had experienced.
As he kept reading, he felt his eyes starting to sting.

He felt like complaining again.

Author, not only is your writing bad, you're also lazy! So many things happened during that time—like when the academy sent us to the Dark Forest for practical training and I got trapped in an ancient magic circle, and Dishang, who had just awakened his bloodline, came to my rescue by himself and we spent seven days and nights escaping together. And what about when I burned my hand making potions, and Dishang treated my burn, then brewed a potion for me and handed it in as my own assignment, getting me an A+… All these big and small moments… Did you eat them all up?! Why didn’t you write about them… Now, when I want to reminisce, I can’t even remember everything.

He looked at the final words, "Wait for me, Your Highness", and two tears finally couldn't help but roll down his face and onto the computer desk.

He never knew Dishang Huai, that rascal, was so sentimental, with such complicated, almost poetic thoughts.
He didn't even know that he really loved him. And he loved him so deeply.

But unfortunately, you’re destined to wait in vain.

Ding Sheng shut down the computer and slumped over his desk. He silently tugged at the corners of his lips and silently tried to force a smile.

Dishang Huai, will you blame me?
Don't wait for me.
I can't bear for you to do that.
Mortals only wait for a lifetime, a few decades. As a Demon God, how long will you have to wait?
