When Ding Sheng woke up the next morning, he was really freaked out!
The memory of last night was vivid in his mind, and he practically wanted to bash his head into the thick velvet mattress and smother himself to death. The only person who drank the Demon God brand XO[1] in the protagonist's bedroom and successfully rose up in ranks… Wasn't that supposed to be the plot of female supporting character number three?
He was finding it harder and harder to understand the protagonist.
Just then, a sweet, innocent-looking little beauty entered the room after knocking and said respectfully, "Your Highness, do you have any instructions? I’m Cece, the assistant housekeeper of the Dishang family."
Feeling drained, Ding Sheng asked, "Where's Dishang Huai?"
Cece: "Lord Dishang has already left."
Eat and run… Even in the original story, Dishang Huai had never done that before!
Ding Sheng thought bitterly as he muttered in his heart: You coward! You're becoming increasingly scummy as you are capable.
The only consolation was that, generally speaking, after triggering this kind of plot event, his survival rate would probably be on the up and up, right?
1. Chinese will sometimes use XO to refer to alcohol in general. There is actually a sauce called XO sauce, which is a spicy seafood sauce from Hong Kong with an umami flavour. My grandma used to make XO chicken (with Martell, not the sauce XD) and it was so good.↩
