Chapter 23
Sanctus got out of the carriage and immediately began puffing himself up,
barking orders for Dishang Huai’s carriage to give way.
Sherry keenly noticed that Lord Dishang, who was usually unflappable even if
Mount Tai collapsed[1], was completely tensed up.
Dishang Huai remained silent for a long while before finally exhaling slowly
as he said, "Let them through."
Sherry hurriedly channelled her magic to move their carriage to the side.
Sanctus was originally a little intimidated when he saw how grand and imposing
the other party's carriage was. However, seeing how obediently they made way,
he felt rather emboldened and pleased with himself.
He was about to take the
opportunity to press his advantage when a voice from inside the carriage said,
"Alright, that's enough, come back now. The auction’s about to start".
There was a tinge of complaint in his voice, his tone still as bossy as ever.
Sanctus promptly docilely got back in the carriage
Ding Sheng patted his chest and muttered internally about what a close call
that was. Then, he shot Sanctus a disapproving glance as he thought to
himself: if you want to die, don't drag me along, okay?
Meanwhile, Dishang Huai stared at Kris' side profile through the window of the
white carriage, almost greedily. His lush, slightly curly, yet soft hair, his
proud and upturned nose, those violet eyes that so easily bewitched him, and
those rosy lips… His little princess hadn't changed one bit.
Then, the curtain of the carriage was drawn shut, and the exquisite royal
carriage pulled away, completely cutting off all sight of Kris.
Sherry didn’t dare disturb him. She simply watched the handsome man sitting on
the other side of the carriage exhale deeply before closing his eyes.

"泰山崩于顶而不变色" which literally translates to "The collapse of Mount Tai
on one's head without a change in expression". It's just an idiom used to
described someone remaining calm and composed, even in the face of great
danger or crisis.↩
