Chapter 7
Kris suddenly announcing her unwavering commitment to the engagement caused quite an uproar in the Olay Empire and even Jingde Academy.
The plot has its own logic.
In the novel, the numerous lackeys tried to curry favour with Kris, who disliked Dishang Huai, by causing trouble for him. And now, these cannon fodders who had mixed feelings of confusion, wondering what sort of spell Dishang Huai might have cast on Kris, and a desire to test Kris's true feelings, continued to go and humiliate and provoke Dishang Huai.
That loser will just endure it silently anyway.
By this time, Mo'er had already made her appearance and met the protagonist. And just like in the original storyline, she has often defended Dishang Huai in such situations.
Hearing the news that many ran to Dishang Huai, looking to cause trouble, Ding Sheng couldn't sit still anymore. Although he had already released the news, without any real action, people would still doubt the sincerity of his desire to stay engaged.
So, when Dishang Huai was once again being bullied by several nobles of the Olay Empire outside the library, Ding Sheng, who had gotten the news, immediately flew to the scene using wind magic before Mo'er could arrive. Upon arrival, he turned a few of the bullies into ice pillars. The furious cannon fodders were about to retaliate, but when they saw that the person who came was the little princess Kris, known as the Rose of the Empire, they immediately backed off.
Kris was not wearing his luxurious palace gown but was dressed in an exquisite black magician's robe that had magic circles embroidered in silver. As he levitated in the air, his naturally curly chestnut hair fell to his waist, enhancing his fair complexion and rosy lips. His purple eyes sparkled with a captivating brilliance. The novel had mentioned on multiple occasions: "Who would have thought such a delicate and noble maiden would have such an evil heart?"
He descended from the sky and naturally held Dishang Huai's hand, before looking around with a puzzled expression. "I'm here to see my fiancé. What are you all here for?"
Naturally, those people couldn't say that they were there to cause trouble, and they immediately dispersed.
Once those people were gone, Dishang Huai pulled his hand away from Ding Sheng. He looked somewhat dishevelled, with visible bruises and wounds at the corners of his mouth. In the novel, Mo'er would always bring potions to treat him. Kris thought for a moment, then he fished out a bottle of healing potion and threw it at Dishang Huai's chest.
Although she wasn't an alchemist, as a princess and a student of magic, she had no shortage of high-quality healing potions.
Dishang Huai hurriedly caught the exquisite, translucent light green glass potion bottle, before finally looking up at Kris with a conflicted expression. He pursed his lips and asked softly, "What brings you here?"
Ding Sheng: To demonstrate my determination not to break off the engagement.
He thought for a moment and gave a believable excuse: "Last time you were pretty quick at finding potion recipes. This time, I want you to help me with some spells and magic circles."
After the previous encounter with Dishang Huai, he went back and reflected and he realised how silly he was. It's not like he was an alchemist, so why did he emulate Mo'er and ask the protagonist for help with potions? He should just ask for help with magic.
Dishang Huai didn't say anything, he simply nodded silently. Then, he turned around and walked ahead, leading Kris into the library.
