Chapter 6
Royce was the youngest son of the Minister of Finance of the Olay Empire. He was also a student of earth magic, studying at Jingde Academy. He was an important member of Kris' cannon fodder group of lackeys, and the first to meet his end.
Royce regarded Princess Kris as his goddess, daring only to admire her from afar, never revealing his feelings, and silently carrying out her every will. He knew Kris detested Dishang Huai; he too, loathed this waste of space for occupying the title of her fiancé. So naturally, he would go look for trouble with him every now and then, repeatedly humiliating Dishang Huai, resulting in the protagonist hating him right down to his core.
In front of Kris, Royce was a loyal dog; but in front of others, he was a bully through and through, and one who only dared to bully those weaker than him
He was also the first person killed by Dishang Huai. The cause was an encounter that took place outside the school. Royce was alone and was tyrannising Dishang Huai as usual. The old butler who served the Dishang family stepped forward to defend his young master and in turn, earned their ire. Royce used a magic scroll that he carried on him to cast an evil spell on the old butler and tortured him, which completely angered Dishang Huai.
At this point, although Dishang Huai had yet to undo the seal on his bloodline, thanks to his protagonist halo, he found his pet that was still in its infancy but was destined to be invincible in the future. Nicknamed Blackie; it was a little black snake with the scientific name Monstrous Nine-Winged Snake. It was a creature that could evolve into a hybrid[1] black demon dragon in the future.
Enraged, Dishang Huai designed a trap and used Blackie to kill Royce.
Upon returning to the academy, Ding Sheng announced that he was willing to marry Dishang Huai and had no intention of breaking off their engagement.
But no one dared to ask why. For a long time, this useless, ruined fiancé had always been the sole blemish and imperfection on the otherwise flawless and proud Princess Kris. Kris hated him; so much that she refused to let anyone mention Dishang Huai in her presence.
Royce was also very curious. He approached Kris tentatively but did not dare bring up the topic, only managing to politely and respectfully pay his respects to her.
Ding Sheng remembered this person. After some thought, he used Kris's usual haughty attitude and directly ordered Royce, "You are not to mess with Dishang Huai or any of the people around him."
Ding Sheng wasn't necessarily trying to save Royce's life; he just wanted to test if not courting disaster would prevent death.
Although confused by such an order, Royce complied.
