Chapter 33
As a transmigrator, Ding Sheng also had his golden fingers[1].
Before he transmigrated, he studied a rather obscure course in the School of International Relations at a university. He spent his days in class doing nothing but reading the speeches of past and present leaders from all over the world.
Now, this skill was finally coming into play.
Before anyone could react, they watched as Kris, the little princess of the Olay Empire, marched forward with the royal guards clad in shining golden armour. At her side was the ugly, black beast that had been masquerading as the first prince, Stuart, for many years. Together, he squeezed aside the representative of the Huicheng Empire, who was about to speak, and proudly stepped up to the circular podium at the Saint Luding Flower Conference.
He held his head up high as his chestnut hair, which was left untied, flowed freely in the breeze.
He spoke eloquently, questioning why the nations were treating the Olay Empire's royal family with such disrespect. He asked the subjects of the Olay Empire— should he be accepted now that he's a boy even though he was deemed unfit to be the heir before just because he was a girl.
At the same time, he also frankly revealed the story of how the divine beast had transformed into a prince to protect the nation and how the real little prince had disguised himself as a girl to evade a curse. He pointedly noted, with sharp precision, that the real threat to the Olay Empire had always come from within. It was their narrow-minded views that caused political turmoil, providing other nations the perfect opportunity to exploit their weakness.
His accusations against the Huicheng Empire and its allies were cleverly veiled—sharp and lethal yet leaving no visible wound.
For those who clung to traditional beliefs, the conservatives who were unwilling to change, the knowledge that Kris was actually a prince rather than a princess, and that they had an heir, was enough. Meanwhile, others genuinely began to look forward to their new heir—their long-beloved little princess bringing fresh change to the country.
Stuart didn't expect Kris to say any of this. From the moment he took the stage, Stuart desperately tried to rush forward and stop him, but he was held back.
The chairman of the Holy Order didn't expect Kris to be daring enough to reveal all this either. The head of the Holy Church did not expect Chris to dare to say this. Seeing Kris’s complete lack of affection for the order over the years, he realised Kris wasn’t the easy puppet he had hoped for. It was only because his original plans fell through that he allied with the Huicheng Empire to hopefully seize the opportunity to annex the Olay Empire in one fell swoop and get a piece of the pie. He just didn't expect that Kris turned out to be a prince, not a princess. However, after hearing the full story, with his knowledge in curse, he immediately grasped the key to the situation.
The chairman jumped to his feet in shock. "Kris, by revealing your identity now, aren’t you afraid of the curse?"
Standing on the podium, Ding Sheng raised his chin slightly and looked at him from afar with a gentle smile. "If Kris has to die, then I’d rather she die here, for this cause."
It was far nobler than the fate of the original Kris, who had become obsessed and bitter from her unrequited love for the protagonist, dragging an entire empire down over personal reasons.
Love didn't necessarily have to be restrained or indulgent; love should be wise. Even if he fell in love with Dishang Huai like Kris in the original story, he wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes.
Naturally, the chairman and others weren't going to take it lying down and watch all their plans fall apart like that.
He awaited Kris’s curse to take effect. As long as this new heir of the empire died suddenly, the Olay Empire would fall to chaos just the same, and their plans could proceed just as smoothly.
But ten minutes passed, and nothing happened.
Kris had already stepped off the podium, receiving the cheers of the citizens as he bowed to them.
The chairman's deep blue eyes darkened.
Curse or not, he couldn't wait any longer. Fortunately, he had prepared a backup plan.
During Kris’s five years at the Holy Order, he had poisoned Kris through his daily drinking water. It was normally undetectable but once he activated it, It could instantly claim a person’s life.
Hellfire's Touch, a poison made by using the most intense flames among ninety-nine kinds of fire. Once it takes effect, the poisoned individual would suffer excruciating agony as if consumed by relentless infernos. Victims of this poison would die, consumed from within, with nothing left behind.
