Chapter 15
Ding Sheng returned to Jingde Academy after a few days of rest.
Based on the original plot, Kris should have already broken off the engagement
with the protagonist by this time, and Dishang Huai should have left the Olay
Empire. But none of that had happened yet, which greatly reduced the level of
crisis Ding Sheng felt.
He thought that since he hadn’t broken off the engagement and Dishang Huai
knew his true gender, he and the protagonist should have a relatively cordial
relationship now and could be considered friends. Therefore, when he needed an old
magic book as a reference for his Intermediate Wind Magic class, Ding Sheng
didn’t hesitate to ask Dishang Huai for help.
Dishang Huai immediately dropped what he was doing and brought Ding Sheng around the
library to find that book.
The seventh floor of the library housed all the old books, and it was usually
deserted, so it appeared particularly quiet. Sunlight streamed in through narrow windows in the walls,
casting intersecting shadows among the tall, ancient wooden shelves. One could
clearly see dust particles dancing in the beams of sunlight.
Dishang Huai hadn't read the book that Ding Sheng was looking for before so he
could only point them to a general area, and they split up to search.
When Dishang Huai inadvertently glanced back and saw Kris in a pale blue mage
robe, his curly chestnut hair cascading over his shoulders. His slender, fair
fingers gliding over the ancient wooden shelves as he intently scanned titles
on the spines of the books, some with clear titles and others faded with time.
Then, as if under a spell, Dishang Huai subconsciously walked over and stood
right behind him.
Sensing his presence, the little princess turned around, his violet eyes
filled with slight surprise.
"Dishang…" He called out but was stopped by Dishang Huai.
"Your Highness, may I kiss you?" he asked, his voice deep and luxurious,
exuding a unique allure. It was as if he was reciting a poem from the distant
past. He had unknowingly wielded the power of his bloodline to enchant the
person before him.
Ding Sheng thought to himself:
If you're a girl, you can picture my current situation as something like
this. Imagine you travelled to the world of "[1]The Return of the Condor
Heroes" or "Chinese Paladin" and Little Dragon Maiden or Zhao Ling'er wants
to kiss you. Would you refuse? Maybe these two examples still aren't quite
apt; ; a better analogy would be if you travelled into the world of
"Investiture of the Gods", and Goddess Nüwa wanted to kiss you. Would you
say no?
In any case, Ding Sheng didn’t reject Dishang Huai at that moment.
It wasn’t until Dishang Huai pressed his whole body against him that he
instinctively started to struggle.
But it was already too late. Dishang Huai lodged one leg between Ding Sheng's
and with his right hand, he pinned both of Ding Sheng's wrists above his head
against the bookshelf. Then, with his left hand, he held Ding Sheng's chin
before moving his hand to the back of his neck and finally cupping the back of
his head.
Ding Sheng was utterly defenceless.
After a long while, Dishang Huai finally lifted his head. Sighing softly, he
took two steps back and tried to steady his breathing before letting go of
Ding Sheng.
When Ding Sheng was released, his robe was all crumpled, his hair dishevelled,
and his lips, like rose petals, looked even more vivid and full. His
originally domineering violet eyes were now gleaming with tears, making him
appear uncharacteristically pitiful.
The shadow loomed over him again.
Dishang Huai captured Ding Sheng’s wrists once again, pinning them against the
bookshelves on either side, bringing his face close, nose to nose as he
murmured huskily, "Just a little longer, hmm? My princess…"
1. The works mentioned are renowned Chinese literature, with the "Chinese Paladin" being a famous game series that has an equally famous (if not more famous) drama adaptation.
The female characters mentioned are often depicted as drop-dead gorgeous (see Liu Yifei who has played both the role of Little Dragon Maiden and Zhao Ling'er). Ding Sheng says using Goddess Nüwa is a better analogy because Dishang Huai is the god of his world and in Chinese mythology, the Goddess Nüwa is credited with creating humanity and repairing the Pillar of Heaven. Phew what a long footnote↩
Also MOAARRRR I need moreee of this kinds of interactions between Dishang Huai and our little princess Ù©(•̤̀ᵕ•̤́๑)
If you don't mind, it'd be nice if you can rate this novel on NU if you've
enjoyed it so far!! ( ̧⸝⸝⍢⸝⸝)à·†
