The Numbers Killer - Chapter 13 Tragedy

After the lengthy, passionate kiss, Bai Yutang released Zhan Zhao whose brain had short-circuited. On the other side, Professor Xu was holding chest, barely able to stand properly. Dr. Zhang's face was covered in embarrassment as he hurriedly took out the medicine from Professor Xu's pocket and gave it to him, "Professor, I'll help you to the infirmary for a rest..."

As he said that, he nodded to Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang before making haste to leave while supporting Professor Xu. Watching them hightail awkwardly, relieved all the anger Bai Yutang had. It's just... Why was there this murderous intent coming from behind?!

Feeling a gust of wind at the back of his head, Bai Yutang bowed his head instinctively. Then some lecture notes and books grazed the crown of his head!
Just as he was about to heave a sigh of relief, he felt another hostile gust of wind flying at him. He grabbed it reflexively, only to find that it was Zhan Zhao's fist...

"K-Kitty?"

Zhan Zhao's entire body was shaking from anger. While one hand was firmly grasped by Bai Yutang, he furiously rubbed his lips with the other and spoke through clenched teeth, "Bai. Yu. Tang!"

...!...

Seeing Zhan Zhao who was filled with killing intent, Bai Yutang subconsciously swallowed nervously, "C-Calm down... I-I was trying to help with the situation..."

"Bullshit!" Zhan Zhao was overcome by rage, he had forgotten that he's supposed to be high-level intellectual, "I'm going to exterminate you today! Cleanse the filth of the world!"

...Shocked...

Bai Yutang immediately jumped to the side as Zhan Zhao raised his leg to kick him and asked, "...Cat, are you trying to end the Bai family line¹?"

Unfortunately for him, the only thing in Zhan Zhao's mind right now was "Kill him".

"It's alright, there's still your brother!" as he said that, Zhan Zhao threw another punch at Bai Yutang. However, all of Zhan Zhao's techniques were taught by Bai Yutang during his free time. As such, he could barely land a hit on Bai Yutang. 

Seeing the mouse dodge all of his attacks, Zhan Zhao's anger only grew. As his frustrations fueled his anger, Zhan Zhao suddenly remembered the Remington in his pocket that Bai Yutang gave to him this morning. And he put his fists away.

Bai Yutang felt relieved to see that Zhan Zhao had calmed down a little. He was about to say some words to appease Zhan Zhao when he saw Zhan Zhao smile coldly at him before reaching for his suit pocket.

Bai Yutang lost all colour from his face from shock as he swiftly took a big step forward to encase Zhan Zhao in his arms, preventing him from taking the gun out. Zhan Zhao's hand was already on the gun, but being trapped by Bai Yutang, he couldn't seem to pull it out. In a fit of anger, he raised his feet to kick Bai Yutang in the shin, "You let go of me! There are 7 bullets in the gun and I have 7 more in my pocket!"

"What do you need so many bullets for? Are you going to war?

Bai Yutang carried Zhan Zhao and retreated into the corridor, away from the crowded lobby.

"I'm going to use them all on you! And turn you into a sieve!!" Zhan Zhao retorted as he struggled desperately.

"Is there really a need for that? Isn't it just a kiss... If you felt like you were taken advantage of, I'll let you kiss me back!"

All Bai Yutang's words did was add fuel to the fire.

"Who wants to kiss you... You asshole! How do you expect me to come to class in the future! I going to end our relationship!"
(lilies: I was contemplating whether I should use friendship or just relationship in general lollol)

"Aren't I helping you to get back at them?!"
"Get back at them my foot!! You're the one making me angry!!"
"There's another reason!"
"What reason?"
"I can't tell you now."
"Why not?"
"Either way, there's a reason!"
"Then tell me now!"
"Give me your gun"
"Tell me first!"
"Gun first!"
"Say it!"
"Gun!"

......

"No! If I don't kill you now, this hatred won't go away!"
"Impulse is the devil! Cat!"
"Only you can be impulsive but I can't?!"
"It's against the law to murder!"
"I'm getting rid of pest!"
"How did I changed from a mouse to pest²?"
"You don't deserve to be a mammal!"

As this endless quarrel was ongoing, something fell from a window from above and landed on the ground with a muffled thud.

The two of them were stupefied, they even forgot about their argument.

"I didn't see wrongly, did I?" Bai Yutang looked to Zhan Zhao and asked.

Zhan Zhao shook his head in disbelief.

The student's screams of terror resounded from outside the building. And the two of them rushed out of the building as fast as they could. Albeit only for a split second, they clearly saw that it was a person who fell.

Once they got outside, they were greeted with a person lying on the empty space in front of the building. It was almost flattened from the impact, but they could still identify the person from their clothes and appearance. It was Li Feifan. The one who had greeted them at the gate just a while ago.

Seeing a stranger's corpse was completely different from seeing that of someone you knew. Seeing that the person who died was a student of his, Zhan Zhao couldn't process it in the moment. While his mouth hung agape, unable to make out any words.

Bai Yutang got the security guard and policemen who rushed over to maintain the crime scene before heading to the roof of the building. 

The building for the Psychology Department was over 10 storeys high. But for someone with the superb vision of a pilot, Bai Yutang saw that protective fence on the roof was hanging loose. 

He then turned and ran into the building. He didn't bother waiting for the lift and just ran up the stairs, 2-3 steps at a time, all the way to the top. 

The door to the rooftop was locked from the outside. Bai Yutang pulled out his gun alertly and kicked the metal door down. He then cautiously slid through the door. The many years of service in the military had heightened his senses. Once he entered the roof, he instinctively felt that there wasn't anyone around. After making a round around the area and sure enough...

He put away his gun and walked over to the broken fence to investigate. The fracture on the protective fence was smooth... It's man-made! Which meant that Li Feifan's death was neither suicide nor an accident. He was murdered. The door was probably locked by him, but what was he doing on the roof at this time instead of heading to class?

Just as his thoughts were in a mess, Bai Yutang saw Zhan Zhao walk beside the corpse and pick up the phone, held tightly in the victim's hands, with a tissue. Although he was located far away from Zhan Zhao, Bai Yutang could still feel his unease.

He quickly whipped out his cellphone to phone Gongsun, to asked him to come down with a few other team members, before running back down.

Zhan Zhao sat by the flowerbed not far from the body, looking down thoughtfully at the mobile phone in his hand.

Bai Yutang walked up to him, "How are you doing?"

Zhan Zhao handed the phone to him. Looking down to the phone, Bai Yutang saw the numbers 1, 3, 5 flashed across the screen. And the wallpaper was actually a photo of Zhan Zhao. The photo was obviously taken in secret. In the photo, Zhan Zhao was beaming as he alighted a car.

Bai Yutang saw Zhan Zhao purse his lips, eyes filled with grief and confusion.

He reached out to pull Zhan Zhao into a hug. Letting Zhan Zhao lean against him while whispering words of comfort, "It's alright, Cat! It's going to be alright!"

omg I love the MTL for 'I'm going to end our relationship'. The raws is '我要和你绝交' which can mean that you want to cut off all ties with the person. But the MTL is 'I want to break up with you' AHAHHAHAH yes even the MTL knows wahhaha ☆*:.｡. o(≧▽≦)o .｡.:*☆
