The Numbers Killer - Chapter 20 The Third Person
The gentle, yet passionate kiss sent sparks through their entire body. They were both stunned by what had happened...
Zhan Zhao's eyes widened in surprise.
This wasn't the first time Bai Yutang had kissed him. Ever since they were little Bai Yutang would have a lot of physical contact with him. They'd either touch or other times, Bai Yutang might nuzzle against him and even frequently hug and kiss him. Perhaps it was because of their close relationship, despite hating coming into contact with others, Zhan Zhao seemed accustomed to Bai Yutang's touch.
However, this——was unlike their usual teasing or pranks. There was a sense of forcefulness behind Bai Yutang's actions. The tight arm around Zhan Zhao's waist, pulling him close, as if he was afraid of Zhan Zhao running away. Between the hot breaths of air they exchanged, it felt like Bai Yutang was trying to retrain himself. And for some inexplicable reason, Zhan Zhao became flustered. Unfortunately for the wall behind him, there was nowhere for Zhan Zhao to hide from the person's advances.
Bai Yutang was also taken aback by his own actions.
When it hit him that Zhan Zhao was almost kidnapped, his usually calm and keen brain short-circuited and blanked out. But seeing him safe and sound caused the anger in Bai Yutang to surge and his body moved before he could process it. When Bai Yutang's brain finally rebooted, his lips were already pressed against Zhan Zhao's.
It was like he had lost control over his body. The more he tries to stop himself, the more his body craved.
The fact was, Bai Yutang had long realised this desire to touch Zhan Zhao. Any contact with Zhan Zhao made him feel at ease. There were times where he even thought he was abnormal. That dizzying desire, it was like something was sprouting within him.
Their overly intimate relationship allowed Bai Yutang to consciously avoid and successfully ignore his throbbing heart. But that feeling only grew clearer and stronger!
When they touched, he could feel the suppleness of that man. When they kissed, he could taste the sweetness of his lips. The light fragrance the other's body emitted, the fair skin on his neck, his slender limbs...
Just like now, Bai Yutang could feel himself falling deeper and he couldn't get enough of that feeling. Dammit! He wants him!
There are certain things one will never be fully prepared for, even if they tried.
Footsteps could be heard nearing them from a distance and Zhan Zhao abruptly pushed Bai Yutang away.
As he backed away, Bai Yutang saw Zhan Zhao leaning against the wall, his eyes rounded in disbelief. His lips freshly moistened from the kiss they shared. And he was actually blushing... How adorable!
"Leader!" Zhao Hu and the rest of team dashed into the alley. When they realised that Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang had gone missing, the entire team went into a panic and searched high and low for them. But when they rushed into the alleyway, they were greeted with the sight of Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang leaning against opposite walls, in a staring competition... Were they in yet another fight?
Sensing the strange atmosphere between the two, no one dared to near them.
Then, Bai Yutang suddenly started laughing, licking his upper lip meaningfully. And in turn, Zhan Zhao's face only got even redder at his action. He turned to walk away, but stopped after taking two steps. He tilted his head to the side like he was thinking about something before making a U-turn. Seeing his actions, a sliver of hope flickered in Bai Yutang's eyes.
Zhan Zhao walked towards him and stopped in front of Bai Yutang. He then took a deep breath...
Without warning, he threw a straight punch at Bai Yutang's face.
"AaaAah! You shitty Cat... Sssss..." Bai Yutang took a few steps back as he held his nose. It really hurts!!
Zhan Zhao looked like he had released some of the anger in him and he warned, "White Mouse, if you make fun of me one more time, you're dead!!!"
Then, he stormed away. As he went away too quickly, no one caught the fluster and confusion in his eyes.
Watching Zhan Zhao's hasty retreating figure, Bai Yutang shook his head with a bitter smile on his face——I'm not making fun of you, Cat, I'm in love with you.

Rubbing his bruised nose, Bai Yutang felt rather fortunate that the Cat was a bookworm. If not, his nose probably would've been broken by that punch.
"Leader! A-Are you alright?" Zhao Hu gathered up his courage and asked.
Bai Yutang glanced at him with one brow raised and replied with a sardonic smile, "Alright? How could I be alright? Why don't I punch you in the face and we'll see if you're alright! Alright? Why wouldn't I be alright? That Cat's punch was as soft as a meat bun, why wouldn't I be fine? Who said I wasn't? Besides, why do you care if I'm alright or not? So what if I'm alright? So what if I'm not? Maybe, I'm perfectly fine but you're the one who's not alright1...Huu..." Bai Yutang took a deep breath and snapped his fingers at his frozen team——"Let's head back!" and walked off.
Zhao Hu, who was still rooted to the ground, turned around and asked the rest, "So is he alright or not?"
"..."
Everyone stared at Bai Yutang's departing figure with their mouth agape while shaking their head.
"Wang Chao commented, "When did the Leader learn Psychology from Dr. Zhan?"
"..."
Everyone continued to shake their head slowly with their jaw dropped as they watch Bai Yutang's figure gradually disappear. Then, they remarked altogether, "He's really unfathomable..."
When Bai Yutang went back to the scene, he saw Zhan Zhao seating on the passenger seat of his silver Spyker C8, in a daze. This silly Cat.
"Xiao Bai!"
Turning to the voice, he saw Lu Fang standing behind him while carrying Lu Zhen.
"Thank you so much, really!" Lu Fang said gratefully.
"I should be the one thanking him!" Bai Yutang said while patting Lu Zhen on the head, "This kid is going to be amazing when he grows up!"
Lu Zhen took out 2 packets of children's milk from his bag and passed it to Bai Yutang, "For you and the pretty uncle."
Bai Yutang accepted the milk with a chuckle before reaching out to pinch Lu Zhen's chubby cheeks. He said goodbye to Lu Fang and headed to the car.
Once he settled down in the car, Bai Yutang handed the milk to Zhan Zhao who was still in a daze.
"Children's milk??" Zhan Zhao looked at Bai Yutang in surprise.
"It's from Xiao Lu Zhen."
"Oh... That kid was quite something!"
"Yeah! He's definitely going places when he grows up!"
"..."
"Kitty."
"What?"
Bai Yutang started the car and said, "Starting from now, until we catch those psychos, don't leave my side, not even a single step!"
Zhan Zhao replied with a smile while drinking the milk, "Those? Not that?"
"Sneaky Cat!" Bai Yutang stepped on the gas pedal, "Did you hear me? From now on, not even a single step away from me!"
......
"Un," Zhan Zhao continued drinking his milk, it's actually pretty good, "Give that bottle to me too!" Then he reached out to snatch it.
"Hey! No stealing, Cat! One bottle per person!"
"Stingy!"
"Greedy Cat!"
......
By the time they got back to the office, it was already past noon. Bai Yutang entered his office to find Bai Jintang sitting on the sofa staring blankly at nothing, looking pretty disoriented.
Bai Yutang carefully retreated by the path he came from and exited his office. Then, Bai Jintang stood up and walked out of the office expressionlessly.
Zhan Zhao hid into his office at the sight and yelled that the rest who were still standing around, "Run! Stay away from him!"
Everyone who had experienced first-hand, the destructive power of the elder Bai fled immediately. Meanwhile, Bai Jintang continued heading towards the entrance blankly.
"Leader, w-what's going on?" Zhao Hu asked weakly while hiding behind Bai Yutang.
"H-He's grumpy when he wakes up! Especially when he's sleep-deprived, there's no telling what he's capable of!"
And just as Bai Jintang arrived at the entrance, Gongsun walked in with a file in hand, "Oh, you're all back? How was the operation?"
......
Receiving no reply, Gongsun glanced at the Bai Jintang standing before him and asked, a little puzzled, "What's up with you..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Bai Jintang suddenly pulled Gongsun into his embrace, buried his head in the latter's shoulder and started nuzzling against him. When he finally lifted his head, he plopped a big kiss on Gongsun's cheek. After that, Bai Jintang rubbed his eyes sleepily and said, "Good morning."
The entire S.C.I. team held their breaths as they watched Gongsun's naturally pale complexion turn dark. He threw the file away and reached into his pocket.
Ma Han asked Bai Yutang with a shaky voice, "Leader, i-is Gongsun going to... stab your brother with a scalpel?"
Sure enough, Gongsun took out a gleaming silver scalpel from his pocket...
"Separate them!" Bai Yutang ordered the moment he realised that the situation was getting out of hand. Under his orders, everyone jumped into action. Ma Han and Zhang Long grabbed hold of Gongsun and dragged him out.
"Gongsun, calm down..."
"I'm going to murder him!" Gongsun struggled against their hold on him while waving his scalpel about, "Let go of me! I'm going to stab him! 3000 times! Not a single less!"
...Chaos in the S.C.I. ensued...
Zhan Zhao stood far away and whispered while stroking Ruben, who was in his arms, "Don't go over there! It's too dangerous!"
Half an hour later, in the cafeteria on the 2nd floor.
Bai Jintang touched the cut on his collar. The scalpel Gongsun threw cut his collar, barely missing his artery by 1 cm. "Your job is pretty dangerous..." Bai Jintang commented, still reeling from what had happened.
"Who asked you to provoke him?" Bai Yutang gave him a cup of tea to calm his nerves.
Bai Jintang took a sip of the tea, "Why is that Gongsun so aggressive?"
......
Zhan Zhao gave Bai Yutang a look to which the latter nodded in response, "Da Ge, I have something to ask you about."
Bai Jintang looked at him, then at Zhan Zhao, "What?"
"Urh... Did Pops have any friends he was especially close to?"
"Friends?" Bai Jintang was bewildered by the question, "I've moved out of the house for so many years, how would I know what friends he has?"
"From 20 years ago," Zhan Zhao added.
"..." Bai Jintang looked at the two of them, a little startled, "Un... yes."
"Da Ge?" Seeing the strange expression on Bai Jintang's face, Bai Yutang sensed that something was up, "Is something wrong?"
Bai Jintang took another sip of his tea before replying calmly, "I don't remember much. You should ask Commissioner Bao instead."
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang exchanged a surprised look at Bai Jintang's response.
"You don't remember? Then have you heard of the 'The two evils: Black and White'? Other than, Commissioner Bao and Pops... who else was there?" Bai Yutang pressed.
Bai Jintang sighed with a troubled smile on his face, "I only know that this guy by the surname of Zhao, shot me here." As he said so, he pointed to his head and continued, "By the time I woke up, a year had passed. And all the memories before I was 13 became fragmented."
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang were horrified by what they had just heard. They recalled that Bai Jintang did go missing for a year when they were kids.
"D-Da Ge..." Bai Yutang was at a loss, "I-I didn't know..."
Bai Jintang smiled, "I don't care, I don't remember anyways. Ah right, I brought a bottle of 1976 de Alsace for Commissioner Bao. You can use it to bribe him, you should be able to get a lot out of him..."
